The always controversial Michael Moore's newest movie, Capitalism: A Love Story, has a release date set for Friday, October 2nd.
This is offically the first Michael Moore movie that I am not looking forward to seeing. Why? I think Michael Moore is naive, and it has taken me all these years to figure this out. I agreed with him on Bowling for Columbine, Farenheit 911, and even Sicko. But it's obvious he's gone too far with this one.
Moore's biggest argument contained within Capitalism: A Love Story is that the wealthiest 10% possess 90% of the wealth. This is not a new concept and has been a standard for basically as long as civilization has had an economy. What Moore seems to fail to realize is that Capitalism is the American way. Pure and simple. A company that does well deserves wealth. An individual who does well deserves wealth.
Michael Moore and all his followers can cry hard times all they want but they refuse to admit that maybe the wealthiest 10% know something they don't. Maybe they have a different mindset. Maybe they see business opportunities, an abundance of wealth. Maybe the 90% only see scarcity.
Although I'm quite sure I will not enjoy Capitalism: A Love Story, I will watch it any way...just to see Moore's proposed alternative, which I can only assume involves socialism. Can you immagine how terrible a society would be if everyone worked their @$$ off and still got paid the same amount as the guy next door who sleeps on the job? America rewards those who are smart.
You see, the reason I agreed with Michael Moore up to a point in Sicko, is that I honest believe health care should be socialized. And I think the line should be drawn right there. I realize it must be a slippery slope, but as I have said in a previous blog, I think Obama needs to set ground rules, stating that health care should be socialized, but precautions will be made to ensure it goes no further. Look, no one deserves to die because they can't afford health care. But people deserve to work at their shitty jobs because they can't bring themselves to understand their own potential.
Once again: Capitalism: A Love Story release date is Friday, October 2nd. Watch it and post your comments.
